That's a surprise!

I am totally unprepared for my daughter's first loose tooth. She hasn't started school yet, and it took me by surprise. I was looking at her mouth today and one of her bottom front teeth was askew. I asked if it was wiggly. She said yes. Ryan double checked for me. It was. I'm not sure what I want to do. How much is the going rate for teeth these days?

What I have been up to

I have been making a couple of bags. The plaid is from the madras tote tutorial at Noodlehead. The bottom pocket was a little bit short, but I like it. I can't remember where the other tutorial came from. It essentially gave dimensions and had you design the look yourself.
There are other bags I want to make, when I get the time.
What type of tote/bag tutorial or pattern do you like?

Matched

I finished the book, Matched, by Ally Condie. I am not sure how I feel about it. Has anyone else read it? What do you think about it?

Summer Skirts

We have been busy with activities around the house and school. Here are some skirts I made for the girls. They both have decided it is going to be a summer of skirts. It is the simple skirt from Made. You can find the tutorial here. I got the fabric from Jo-Anns. They had a sale over the weekend.

Next up, some nightgowns.

Creating a home.

Life gets hectic. It's part of living. Right now, the girls are drawing. Night time is still an issue with us. Both girls wake up in the middle of the night.
I want to improve the spirit in our home. I know it will be through small things. So, today, I am trying to have relaxing music. we are listening to "church" music. It has helped them to be more cooperative with each other. It's a start.

MIA

Well, I have not posted in a long time. I am going to try and post at least once a week. My big project for this month is to fix my daughter's room. I'll post photos of the progress and results.

Lemon Truffle Pie

This recipe came from a student when I taught Cosmetology. She always brought in great treats for celebrations.
What you need:

1- 9 inch pie shell, baked and cooled.
1 C granulated sugar
2 TBSP cornstarch
2 TBSP all-purpose flour
1 C water
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 TBSP butter
1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 C lemon juice
1 C vanilla milk chips or 6 oz. pkg. white baking bar, chopped
1 8 oz. pkg. light cream cheese, softened

In medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and flour; mix well. Gradually stir in water until smooth. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils. Stir frequently. Reduce heat; cook two minutes. Remove from heat. Add a small mount to the yolks, blend together, pour yolks into sauce pan. Return to medium heat and until mixture comes to a boil. Stir frequently, or constantly. DO NOT ALLOW IT TO BURN. Reduce heat and cook two minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter, lemon peel and juice.
In a separate sauce pan stir together the vanilla chips and 1/3 of lemon mixture. Cook over low heat until chips melt.
Beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add in the vanilla milk chip mixture. Pour into pie shell. Spoon remaining lemon mixture on top.
Chill 2-3 hours.
You can top it with whipping cream and toasted almonds.
